Panthers Take Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final against Oilers
Panthers Win First Game in Edmonton
The Florida Panthers have taken an early 1-0 lead in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 in Game 1 on Saturday night in Edmonton, Alberta.
Panthers Dominate Game 1
The Panthers were dominant from the start of the game, outshooting the Oilers 25-16 and controlling the puck for much of the night. They opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Aleksander Barkov and added two more goals in the second period from Carter Verhaeghe and Anthony Duclair.
Sergei Bobrovsky was solid in goal for the Panthers, stopping all 16 shots he faced. Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the rest of the Oilers' potent offense were held in check by the Panthers' stingy defense.
Series Shifts to Sunrise
The series now shifts to Sunrise, Florida, for Games 2 and 3 on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The Oilers will look to even the series, while the Panthers will aim to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
